I know this is a older video – but dude, you refer to the centrifugal drag as “magnets”? You act like you have a lot of 13 gear but this video makes me feel otherwise. Did you tune the reel before throwing it at all? You’re giving a review before dialing it in….not a good look for reviewing. My CZ Slide was amazing out of the box. The CZ bushings are noisy – they are polymer!! Lol
This is a little bit off topic but I just picked up the Concept Boss. I have one other 13 fishing concept reel that I love and decided to buy the Boss as well. Haven't fished it yet but I have to say that the brake dial inside the reel is extremely difficult to turn. I had to take the spool out just to grab the dial firmly enough so it would turn. Haven't had it on the water yet but so far my first impression, at least of the boss, is not favorable!
Bahahhahaha, I just got my concept Z2 last week, right out of the box I said that it was surprisingly grabby when reeeling it, got it all spooled up and casted about 20 times with multiple settings and it was super stiff, I agree completely about feeling the gears in it, took it down to the frame, TONS of excess grease in it, cleaned it up, regreased and oiled and still not any better. My Tatulas are 50x the reel at this point, hoping after a bunch of use it will get smoother??!??!!!!???!
I think you didn’t have enough tension on the line when you were spooling it. That happens you should really re test after you spool it tighter
Looking at the video I think you got slide on max that might be whats
lol…how are you going to throw up a review and not know the reel features? i'm sure at this point you know what the sliding thumb dial is for.
I had similar issues with my original Z but what I did was clean out all the extra grease everywhere and now it's amazing!
The slide is just a fine tuner for the braking system. When he was getting all the backlashes the slide was pushed all the way forward. But the clunkiness is a shame.
I think you just got a bad reel, I have it and it’s really good don’t have anything bad to say about it.
I've had that issue with some of their other reels i just called them up and they took care of everything.
It’s really a saltwater reel. We use the hell out of them in open water. If you put too much line on them, they fluff bad. Mine is dialed in and will out cast my Chronarch or Daiwa Coastal. I am far from a fanboy. I hated mine until I broke it in. Now I like it, I can damn near spoil a spook on a 6’ 2” laguna rod.
My 1st gen concept z has actually gotten better as it has aged, especially after learning to fine tune it. Honestly, I think you didn't research it enough. The slide feature is there for a reason. I believe that once you fine tune it, it will perform better! Like I said, my gen 1 concept z was hard to throw, noisy, etc…but 2 years later, it's my best reel!
You already own some great reels with the Daiwa Tatula's ( check out the Elites if u haven't already ) and Shimanos…. Send that be piece of 💩 back.
I picked this reel up in a right handed 6.8:1 running 20lb braid on it im not getting that loud noise when I cast like you are. I set my brake on 2 like I do with all my concepts and it’s yet to backlash on me. I do feel like I paid an extra 75$ for no reason though it feels and cast just like my 1st gen z’s guess the different paint job and reel cover is what I paid the extra money for 🤷🏻♂️ I like the reel but I don’t think the price point should be as much as it was.
