Agressive Fish In The Deep Ocean: Black Dragonfish

Agressive Fish In The Deep Ocean: Black Dragonfish #animalfacts #animalshorts #fish #deepocean #deepsea

Fortunately, these fish are not as big as sharks or whales, because that would be a disaster. This is the black dragonfish, one of apex predator in the deep ocean. It lives between 500 and 2000 meters below the surface. It feeds on crustaceans, fish, and squid. It can swallow prey larger than itself. It has a large mouth full of sharp teeth that can pierce through anything. It also has a barbel, a long organ that hangs from its lower jaw. At the tip of the barbel, there is a light-producing organ that the dragonfish uses to attract prey. Female blackdragons are about two feet long and have fang-like teeth and a long chin whisker. The males are small, about three inches in length, and brownish in color. They have no teeth, no chin barbel, and no stomach.
