Bass Pro Shops Formula Spinning Reel Review

I review the Bass Pro Shops Formula spinning reel priced at $50, the FMA20 version. I go in depth on three aspects of the reel – casting, reeling, and durability. Overall, I found it to be a very solid reel for its value, as all Bass Pro Shops reels are. Although if you are looking for a higher gear ratio I suggest the slightly more expensive Johnny Morris spinning reel.

I just went to BPS with my wife and they had that reel on sale for $29.00 . I bought 2 of them not knowing much about them because of the price and also because of the way they felt in the hand with the demo model they had out in the store. Looks like I got a good deal ! They will be used mostly in the Chesapeake Bay which is brackish water , so I will definitely be rinsing them off after each use. Which is a good idea any time you use a reel . I'm wondering how it will do against a big Catfish or Striper . We will see . Looks like it will be good for flounder , speckled sea trout and of course white perch .
