Living in southeast Tennessee I have access to all kinds of rivers and streams. Sometimes the closest ones are hard to fish do to TVA dams and their changing schedule. This trip I was able to float the lower Ocoee river at just the right time and caught some solid bass and saw my first ever paddle fish in person.

I think if I did a lot of skinny river fishing (I’m mostly inshore saltwater) I’d get a 10’ paddle yak with a power pole, like NDKayakangler. I think locking in position is most impt. Nice vids
Love seeing the John Dalton Signature Series Combo Doing the jobe for you. The Paddlefish was awsome. I just fish ponds and creekas around Chattanooga and don't get up your way very often. Keep fishing those creeks and ponds and I will keep smashing that like button. Gos Bless You….
Paddlefish are so weird and cool. I don't know that I have ever actually seen one like that. That was pretty cool underwater footage. Glad the water was so clear!
Amazing water clarity… nice catch on that first bass.. keep up the good work brother and God bless you… 👍👍👍👍
@John, I would fish much slower than you on these wonderfully fishy-looking spots, LOL! What a great day of fishing!
Hey man. Me and my friend just recently got our fishing license and don’t know much about fishing. What’s the best bait to use? We went down to a fishing spot by a creek near us, and I think the fish we saw were brown trout not too sure. But yea just wanted to ask what’s the best kind of bait and tools to use. Great vid man
I have to confess that watching another awesome video John, I have thoughts of covetousness wanting to do what you do LOL. Just kidding but it sure is appealing floating down such a clear river catching fish. You are a blessed child of God.
i can finally say drinkin' those Mountin' Dew's paid off watching you perform that keen paddln' maneuver!
That yum dinger seems to be your new favorite soft plastic. I got some I think green pumpkin colored ones that work good out here. Think my favorite soft plastic though is a black blue spec rage craw.
You guys just floated down on and came back on while 1 gen was on the whole time?
There are commercial fishermen that target Spoonbill fish during a short season. They get freshwater caviar from them and it pays good money per pound. Great video today and have a Blessed Day.
Awesome adventure and man that scenery. Your start was killer, quality fish and decent numbers, fighting that current like a boss. I haven't explored TN yet but in southern KY and in IL it pays to get off the trails. Keep them coming brother, blessings 🙌
Great viedo, you keep getting better with the footage. Love to watch your viedos. Going to do some wade fishing soon. Have the hellgramites ready to catch em all.
Love the music in the intros puts u in a relaxing frame of mind tight lines brother ✌🏾
Man John, you have some of the prettiest water and rock formations I have ever seen in your state!
Even when clear our water is brownish in Va lol.
Another great video!
Yesterday I spent 3 hours wading to land 1 huge creek chub, 1 huge bluegill, 1 6in largemouth, and a sub 1lb Smallie from a new (to me) creek I found access to behind a shopping center 20mins from home.
Started fishing with my 2 boys two weeks ago and found your channel.. great tips and thanks for sharing the sites… we have a lot of places to go.. hope we meet some day.. currently doing/learning fishing at Jefferson Springs Recreation Area and its fun!
How can I find when the Ocoee is low flow I would love to take this trip
Great video, John. Thank you. This is one of my favorite videos you have done: Excellent scenery, audio and video quality was great, and you did an awesome job getting those underwater shots of the paddlefish. Thank you!
Awesome beautiful stream John. And beautiful bass. Thank you for sharing sir. God bless you and your family…..🙏❤🙏❤🙏😊🙂😀
That was sweet. The places you go are amazing and the scenery is awesome. I love TN!
So beautiful. God is good. He used a little extra sugar and spice on this river. The spoonbill was cool.
Dude, you’re editing is getting better and better . This open was most excellent.
What a day!!! Smallie catch AND a spoonbill sighting!!! Man that's a killer looking river!!! Definitely gonna put that on my "to do" list!!!
Nice way to start nice spotted bass and then the surprise small mouth bass the fish were definitely biteing today
Congrats on a great day, John! This is some of my favorite kind of fishing. Hard to beat a worm for sure!
I might alternate the worm with an in line spinnerbait… I can't explain it… but on moving water especially…I have much more success with an in line vs a traditional spinnerbait. I think they must be more attracted to the in line profile.
Man, that paddle tail was a neat thing to catch on camera too.
You got to slow that Kayak down!!! I caught a 15lb paddle at Old Hickory Lake below the dam. What a disappointment, I hoped for a striper.
Beautiful float on the Ocoee ! Nice smallie and good footage of the paddlefish. Interesting save on the tangled up fish. I hope you will do an additional float down through there again sometime. Always be safe. Randy B.
Looks great, John. You got the video and audio the show deserves. Your catches were awesome. God bless!
John make yourself a concrete tear drop shape weight with eye bolt in pointy end to tie rope to tie it to your kyak to slow you down let it drag
Good video as usual. That's some pretty water. I could stay on that little river all day and really probe more of those deep pools, and rocky areas where the water looks "fishy".
