It looks scary, check. It's poisonous, check. Can give an electrical shock, check. Of course it's from Australia. Can we eat it though?
I can't imagine any of these fish (except the stargazer) freaking out divers. Four of them are deep sea dwellers and are found nowhere near a place where humans could be threatened.
That said, this was an awesome collection! I remember when the gulper eel was found by, I think it was MBARI (Monterey Bay Aquarium and Research Institute). It was hilarious listening to how the researchers (safely tucked away at the video screen ~ most utilise only remote operation vehicles ~ROVs) groped their way into figuring out what they were seeing and how silly they became while watching. ("Touch it!") 😁

I've seen that fangtooth fish a million times but never realized it was a juvenile! Absolutely terrifying that thing could potentially be huge as an adult 😳

I’m a diver. None of us are freaking out about 4/5 of these and I promise you 5/5 of regular divers don’t gaf about any of these creatures when diving. I am only freaking out about #5 and that’s only bc I’ve never known we had footage of anything living from the Java Trench so this title needs to change
