You need to tie the two parts of the wire together with a wire between the two. The wire itself lacks the rigidity necessary to set the contraption off.
Maybe the coat hanger should have a loop where it goes through the ring at the base. It will stop the trigger assembly from sliding out and maybe getting lost or going down the hole. I have made these for a couple of years and they work well. Great video.
Looks pretty good . It would be cool not to fiddle with the cam as much though . Aim at the project and carry on .
