Homemade machine that will jig your lure and set the hook when a fish bites!
Made from scrap wood and various bits of junk I had lying around. The hardest part to find is a gear motor that has lots of torque and low power consumption. The motor from a drum type humidifier would probably work. You could also buy a cheap RC servo and remove the servo electronics so it just runs as a gear motor.
There are quite a few videos on Youtube that show you how to make a release mechanism similar to the one used here.
Several commercial products such as the JawJacker and the EZJigger use a motor and cam mechanism to jig the rod so there may be patents on this idea. In any case you are free to make one for personal use.
