i have the fierce 8000 and the battle 2 8000 with 80 pounds brarre line love it there awesome .👍
I've got a 3000, 4000, and 7000 all upgraded to SMOoOTH Drag carbontex drag washers. Best bang for the buck I've ever had!!
i have the 6000 i have been using for 2 years and i love it this reel is flawless, i use it mostly for stripers and bluefish, i just picked up the 4000 for fluke i cant wait to try it out,, you can not beat these reels for the price
If i chose a 4000 size reel to put on a medium action rod rated for lets say 4-12lb test or even 6-14lb test for largemouth bass here on long island in ny would that be over kill and then switch it over to trout in the fall over to winter or should i just go with the 3000 size and spool it with braid and just stay there?
The PENN Fierce 5000 is PERFECT for the Ugly Stik GX2 7 foot rod in medium/heave action. They sell match in color.
Just bought the Penn FRC6000 Fierce Spinning Reel. My rod is lightweight. Would this be an issue for me?

Got one and the gears broke after 2 months of use (I cleaned it and everything) just catching mid sized flounder and tog only really up to 7 pounds. Battle lasts much longer
It really depends on the species you're targeting. What are you after and where do you usually fish?

this is penn 4000 is junk. mine broked after serveral use. the rubber handle where you place your index finger and thumb on broke off. seems like the metal pin or shaft is weak.
Hi I have a Penn Fierce 6000, How do you remove the reel handle? I tried turning the knob on the other side but it wouldnt budge
The 1000, 2000, and 3000 all are great sizes for freshwater applications.
I would go with the Fierce 5000 for the added line capacity since you will be targeting both Striper and halibut. You will also have more max drag on the 5000.
im debating between the sargus or the fierce, both are in my price range. i will be using it for california halibut and striper from the pier and surf. what reel would you rec. and why? 4000 or 5000 on a 7ft medium heavy action fast taper
Have a 4000 right next to my older Pursuit 4000 on my kayak! Very nice reels!
I would suggest a 4000 since you will be using inshore and in the surf. The 4000 will not be too big or too small for the species listed.
Looking for a reel to kayak fish Mobile bay for trout, flounder and maybe the occasional red fish. Will also be hitting the surf for whiting, and Spanish. Going to pair it with a 7' ugly stick light pro graphite in a M weight. I'm considering the 3-5K Fierce. Which would be better for this purpose?
I will be targeting reds, trout, and snook for the most part, but ocasianally I will get hooked up on mackerels, jacks, or sharks.
John what will you be targeting? Reds, trout, snook, etc? A FRC3000 or FRC4000 would be ideal.
It all depends on how much line capacity you are looking for. You could use 50lbs+ but the higher you go up in mono the less line capacity you will have.
I would say a 5000 or 6000 would be the best for blue fish and striped bass.
It all depend on how much line capacity you are trying to achieve, you could easily put 80lb+ mono on the 8000 but you want get much line capacity so it just all depends on what you are targeting and how much line capacity is needed to get the job done.
I use the fierce 6000 with my 12 foot surf rod and never had a problem. 30lb braid and use it for both spinning and casting chunks of bait. Biggest fish I have caught was a 12lb blue fish. Reel handled like a champ ad felt like new even after.
The 5000 size holds a little over 300 yards of 30-pound braid; quite a bit more than the 4000 does. The 5000 also has a lot more drag.
A 7-foot or 7-6 rod like the Penn Allegiance Inshore ALLIN1020S70 series is not too expensive, but many 7 to 8-foot rods rated 12-20 or so will do the trick.
Ugly Sticks are a great rod for very little money.
Wat reel at 09 I am looking for a reel that will do it al catch redfish, trout, flounder, bluefish, black drum, sheepshead and a possible 3ft bonnethead shark. I would carolina rig it, and cast lures. I was thinking the 5000 because the 4000 will be a little small for all this. Should I( if this is the best choice) spool this up with 30lb. braid? Also what rod? I know you are kind of supposed to recommend penn rods but Idk if I have the money so Maybe a general weight class of mono. please help
The Fierce 6000, 7000, or 8000 size reels could all work with the rod you mention, depending on the line you will be using, and the fishing style and species targeted.
Look at all 3, and try them on your rod before choosing.
