We catch a break in the weather and head out on an incredible journey to the Kenai Peninsula for salmon fishing. Wildlife, nature, and sightseeing were all a part of this jammed packed 600 mile trip. We process our catch at home and enjoy a summer meal.
We appreciate you tagging along for our Alaskan adventure ๐

Oh my gosh I was holding my breath the entire time!! That was incredible seeing a bear with her cubs. But yes definitely not the kind of bear you want to see if you have to see any bears at all. Iโll never forget being up at a cottage in Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada and we were going to head into town when my girls came running in and said mom there is a baby bear outside on our car. I said oh ya a baby bear eh?! Thinking it was another story they were telling me so I didnโt really believe them and continued to get ready to go to town and I almost walked out the door and into a mother bear who reared up on her hind legs because I startled her as much as she startled me!! I backed slowly in to the cabin hushing my girls as I went hearing them whisper we told you mom we told you!! I said thatโs not a baby bear thatโs a momma bear and the kids were saying look on the roof of the car thatโs a baby!! Sure enough there were two baby bears on top of my sunroof as if they were sunning themselves. I said well I guess we arenโt going to town now!! Lol! But within 30mins they had all moved on and we were able to leave. Iโm curious when you said the native Alaskans were able to deal with the situation better then you and Eric? What did they do? Make banging sounds?? Very curious! Wow look at all those fish!!! Congratulations on your adventure!!๐ฅฐโค๏ธ๐๐ป๐จ๐ฆ
Great video. I lke to go to Alaska one day.. will see. Thanks for the sharing the experience of all.
You put so much detail and interest in your videos, not knowing how to make videos I do know how much editing has to be done but it has to take a lot of preparation to get these captivating videos Much success and happiness to you both for the new year and may you have any more to come.
I love seeing anything from Whittier, so interesting watching your videos. Excellent site. Many thanks.
Those otters were adorable too! What a sight to see – all that salmon smoking on the grill! And finally after ALL your hard work you get to eat!!! YUM!!!
Eric – I'm glad it was you that drove through thr tunnel and not me! What an AWESOME time ! Those were beautiful fish you caught and then to see Mama bear and 3 babies! WOW!It was FUN to watch you fish! I couldn't believe all the people there to fish! I had never seen fishing with nets before! You gotta be strong to control the net and the fish! WOW WHAT A FISH Carol!!!!
I took a hiatus from YT for a few months, came back, and HAD to catch up on your videos. How cool is it? I just watched a documentary on Whittier, AK! I can't believe a majority of the residents live in an old military building that also houses the Whittier school! So cool, y'all have been there so many times! And through the longest tunnel in North America, that's also the first to withstand -40ยฐF Temps! I'm so happy to be catching up with y'all! Happy times, friends. ๐
I could not help but comment; I am 65 and was a child living on the Kenai river. I lived above the soldotna creek where it talked about the people who lived in what was a flat roofed home white in color that we called the white house. We subsided off the river. My dad came to A.K. In 1954 to live with land from G.I. Claime. Such good memories; I made many trips like yours. Hooligan and clam digging in spring. Tustamina lake free camping, and fishing for lake trout best at lake mouth to kasilof river. What a life for younger people . I hurt my back on fishing boats . Wish I could live that life again!
Beautiful scenery. That is a long tunnel. Oh how I would love to go fishing in Alaska. Nice salmon.
I really enjoyed watching this video twice already and will still watch it next time. The fishing, the scenery, the wild animals shown on their natural habitat, the river teeming with salmons, the two of you doing the all hard work but at the same time enjoying and giving us fantastic videos all the time. Just reading the fantastic comments is already an enjoyable time for me. Thank you for the two of you!
I'm from Massachusetts if I were to travel to Alaska what would I cost me for a month and spent timeand do what your doing
Great video I don't know how I miss this one but three months ago you put it out I missed it watching it tonight great video all right thank you ๐ฏ๐ฏ๐ฏ๐ฏ๐ฏ๐ฏ๐ฏ
how many days was all that he fish in your cooler until you made it home to process it?
We need more people that can see a bear, enjoy it and yet recognize the danger and stay clear. I notice that you are armed , a wise precaution, and you have smarts enough to enjoy the bear and still give it a wide berth, congrats on enjoying it and staying safe.
It's pretty but maybe needs a break 1 or.2 years from 30.fish per household.. to lower number. Many videos show different spots of catching but each spot and geographical location seem to allow doffernt catch limits per household.. yet the Salmon basically all come from the same oceans for example.
