How To Make A Fishing Rod Rack: DIY Rod Rack

This video was made to show you how I made my own custom fishing rod rack due to the lack of decorative options out there. There are no fishing rod racks for sale that I could find that were nice enough to put inside my home. A fishing rod rack shouldn’t have to be kept in the garage due to it being too ugly for the house. This fishing rod rack isn’t difficult to build and you will receive many compliments as I have. The wood carved fish really makes the rod rack stand above all others. Thank you for watching the video and subscribing to my channel. Below is the material list for the diy fishing rod rack build. Good luck making your own!

Material List For Rod Rack Build:
(1) 1″x10″ pine board- 4ft length (Top Piece)
(2) 1″x10″ pine board- 3ft length (Legs)
(2) 2″x4″ pine- 20″ length (Feet)
(2) 1″x4″ pine board- 20″ length (Feet)

Attention!!!In the video I mentioned you need a 1″x12″ and this was a mistake. Replace that with a 1″x10″ for the top piece as listed above!

Video Description-
The video will take you through the process of building this fishing rod rack from scratch. In the beginning you will see some clips of the rod rack when its finished. It will then jump to an explanation of the wood needed for the fishing rod rack followed by some clips of the wood being cut to the sizes listed above. I then explain drilling the holes needed for the fishing rods to fit in the rack and then we are on to assembly. This is when the videos is sped up to prevent the video being extremely long. I talk through this sped up footage to help you understand what’s going on. When the fishing rod rack is done being made I go into the process of staining the wood. This is the final step! If there are any questions after you watch the video please comment and I will answer asap!

WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE SAWS TO CUT THE WOOD?
If you don’t have the saws needed you can purchase this wood from Lowes and they will cut it for you. Bring this list with you and make sure you’re very specific that you need this wood cut EXACT. Otherwise they will just cut it close enough which will throw this fishing rod rack way off.

If you’re curious as to what rods and reels I had displayed on my fishing rod rack, there were two Penn Squall 60LD reels, two Penn Spinfisher VI 7500 reels and two Penn Battle 8000 reels. They were on Star rods and Penn rods.

So when it’s (2) 2x4s 20 ft is that 40 ft in total? Also does it matter what size they are when you buy them?

What would i do if i wanted to make the rod rack double sided? I am looking to put slots 6 inches apart but i need to hold 30 rods. Would i be better off to make two racks that each hold 15 rods?
