I am building a small fish room in my basement. The air pump I have will not pump enough air to handle all the tanks so I have installed a LARGE new air pump. VERY NOISY ! How can I reduce the noise?

Can't you cover the hole with silicone if you mistakenly drilled a bad hole vrs cutting out the line?

Cory, I know you are incredibly busy nowadays but hopefully you can answer this for me. I understand the reason for the PVC loop, but I’m curious of the effects on pressure when creating manifolds that extend from the header loop. For example, adding a tee to extend pvc downward then create a letter E or an 8 with a combination of tees and 90 degree elbows. My thinking is this will shorten the amount of airline tubing as well as make maintenance easier as it won’t be so high up near the ceiling. Will this lower pressure to the sponge filters where I’d need a more power pump or should this have no effect? I have a tank rack of 18 tanks in a 3 tiered system. If you don’t know how to answer, who should I ask? Thanks a bunch! Congratulations on 300k subscribers and many more to come!

What linear piston pump do you recommend?

To minimise the deforming in the cut turn the pipe as you start the cut. Once the blade hits the pipe that's when you turn it a bit till the blade catches the pipe then click it once and turn the pipe back the other way and it should start cutting through the pipe and you can ratchet away and it will barely deform the cuts.
Also you should rough up the ends before glueing. Just run some 60 grit sandpaper over the ends and in the connectors. It helps the glue grab both ends much better and have less likelihood of leaks later on.
Why not just use airline couplings instead of the adjustable T's off the manifold pipes?

How big of a pump would one use for an entire fish room? Looking to set up a lot of tanks and I was wondering if you have one pump to run everything or if you use a grouping of smaller pumps?

Hi Cory, I'm setting up a small fish room. Wondering if a 45L/min electromagnetic air compressor will run around 30 small sponge filters? they would be submerged to a depth of no more then 10 inches. (If that is a factor?) I couldn't find a formula online or a video by you that shows how to pick an air pump for a fishroom, maybe an idea for a video (If you haven't done it already. Thanks heaps from New Zealand! (please keep in mind I need math behind what will run my room as in New Zealand we don't have access to all the products you do in the states.. )
