SHAD FISHING Report AMERICAN RIVER | #Shad Fishing From Shore Easy Setup

Every year, in Sacramento, CA, at the beginning of spring, the American shad return to their spawning grounds. They enter the Sacramento River, which anglers have been catching…. See the local YouTube to see what I mean.
From the ocean, they enter the Sacramento River, some go straight to other waters that I am not familiar with; however, a significant number make a right turn and enter the American River!!! Hello… they will be greeted by eager anglers wanting some fishing action. American shad, nicknamed “poor man’s tarpon,” because of their amazing fighting ability. I was pleasantly reminded again when I caught some on this trip.
Just like fishing from a boat, if you want to be successful, you gotta be willing to chase them down or up. Using polarized glasses and walking along the American River, you can often times see the shad school….
There are many ways to fish for shad from a boat and from shore. If the rigs that you are using in the past work and you have confidence in them, they will probably still work. I, on the other hand, just for fun, like to experiment with different setups. In this video I am sharing the two shad setups that I use along the shore.
The American River current is very fast and dangerous. Please be careful out there.
