In this video i explain how to make a simple kayak anchoring set up for use with an anchor trolley system. The set up uses an anchor (with chain) along with an anchor reel loaded with anchor line. I run through how to assemble the set up and how to deploy and haul the anchoring system.
I have uses this method on my fishing kayaks for many years and it works very well.
This is a quick and easy method to anchor a kayak but it is not a quick-release system – please see my video on the Quick Release Anchor System if you need to be able to have the option to instantly disconnect from the anchor at any time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eP7IisM4SI

Hi everything is great and I like the easy steps too set up anchor trolley, I was wondering if the trolley system be able too handle 13lb. Of anchor?
Great video, thanks for your attention to detail. Love from historic Philly.
Do you like your anchor trolley on the left side or right side of your kayak
Hey Liam, would you kindly recommend a brand or make of diver’s reel…..am in Sydney Australia and am getting confused with online options and, as we are in lockdown currently, I can’t visit a dive shop to inspect nor get local advice. I don’t use an anchoring system much as I mainly fish in enclosed waters or estuary situations, but when I do I would like a safe quick release option. 😀 Carol
Very interesting! I'll use several tips seen in your videos with my future kayak 👏🎣
Hi, Thanks for all the informative videos you make. They have helped me greatly. My question isn't anchor related, but you seem like a good guy to ask! Can you reccomend a good, stable fishing kayak that is under £1000? (O'r there abouts) Something that can cope with relatively rough conditions ideally. I have seen some that are marketed as being really stable, but are only 29" wide. Is width all that matters when it comes to stability, o'r is it partially down to hull shape?
Thanks again,
Mike.
