There is something a little ridiculous about a snake fishing lure and for me that was good enough reason to try and make one and to be honest it is still winter here and making top water lures at least gives me hope that summer might come one day. I designed this lure using CAD and 3d printed the sections which are hollow for buoyancy with a slot to take a strip of Aramid flat braid a type fabric using in composite reinforcements which is a pig to cut even with sharp scissors or a blade, this will at least be pike proof, unless the pike has access to a workshop and some time on its hands.
The lure was designed to have a walk the dog action similar to a spook style lure so to get it to walk you need to add a steady rhythm of jerks and pauses and then it starts to move like a snake and it with a bit of practice it gets quite convincing.

better with a neodymium magnet (so they would repel each other) not centrally glued.
i punched them out of some 2mm craft foam and used a Stanley knife to cut a slit
You should add a lip on it so he can swim under the water like so we can see this

Holy Smokes looks wonderfull! Because of you I started to make my own lures, thanks so much for the inspiration! I love the crayfish you made (a couple videos ago) and didnt think you could top it but this snake lure deffenently tops it lol
The biggest part of this build was figuring out how to put it all together. Nicely done!
This is great! A good friend of mine has an older brother who did service mission to central America in the late 80's. He brought home a handmade snake like this to his little brother who was my best friend. I always would pay with the snake and tell him it would make a awesome fishing lure, but being like 10-12 there is no way I would of figured out how to make it work. This me smile thinking about my buddy.
