Simple tip to help you target species.
Fish with big eyes are active when there is no moon. That's why they need BIG EYES. SO THEY CAN SEE.
So squid. Silver Jew .mullaway. most palagics.
Jew mouth their prey. So when they take it wait for the 3rd run . Then hit it. Flooding tide is best. However flathead fishing is best on a run out tide. Look in the sand at low tide and see the flathead lays. Always head into the current. Max food min energy
bro never strike with circle hooks. only a slow lift to pull the into the corner of the mouth. keep on persisting though:)
Should be running two hooks and drag locked up to near your lines breaking strain. Don't give them a chance to spit it out.
its a circle hook dont rip it lean into it or reel it in slowly to set the hook 🤦
Drop a hook size mate…small hooks can catch big fish too..here is a link to the trace we use this side of the pond.
Btw trumpeter dont rlly work as live bait that good, for molloway i recommend using bit chunks og bait for for live bait use herring or yellow tail
If your fishing livebait on circle hook you need to have tight drag not loose
wish i knew about this channel when you lived in cairns, im not too far from there.
Great videos mate👍🏼👍🏼I think you need to file a missing hair lines report with the police❤️
i live here lmk if your still down here ill take you out on the boat
What knot are you using for the circle hooks? A snell knot or loop knot are generally better knots to help the hook turn. Also fresh squid is gun jewie bait or fresh salmon/tailor
You look like Heihachi Mishima from Tekken 😂😂😂 . Keep up the great work mate 👍
just a little anchorage tip, before you let the anchor down , stop and see which way the boat drifts then anchor accordingly.
hey mate with lives for mulloway you want to hook them head first because mulloway grab the bait head first
if you are fishing with truppies then you cut of the back fin were it spikey because the smaller mulloway grab it feels the spikes and drop it
You should use a double treble hook like for pike or musky better hooking potential one on the head and one on the tail I think this will help you
Definitely have the right idea brother, you want to run about 30-40lb braid setup tied to a swivel from there you want to a 1m to 1.5 mono leader using a lighter leader is definitely more efficient!! (20-25lb) then with a running ball sinker depending on the depth of water you want to try use light as sinker as you can but at the same time being mindful that you want your bait staying down in the water column. Make sure you have your drag really loose because as soon a mulloway feel any weight they will spit the bait hence why you want a small running ball sinker.
Next you want size 5 circle hooks to a snell rig, only time you tighten the drag is when it start peeling line off your reel let it run with it for 10 to 15m then tighten drag enough to set the hook!! And when you set the hook really set it strike the rod!!!! , Mulloway are very elusive and hard to catch they will play with the bait for a long time before they run with it( PATIENCE IS KEY! 🔑) always have the fish head facing towards the ground so hook the bottom hook with the head ether in the nose or just in-front of dorsal fin as they always go for the head first!! and look for the deepest pockets in the estuary or river systems. Mulloway frenzy will happen long as you're fishing on the in coming tide not the out going. The bait you used has known to catch mulloway on occasion but your best bait is live mullet or a fresh fillet of tailor. Burley up the water get all the fish active mulloway will hear and feel the vibrations and follow the scent of your burley. Plenty of mullet down there to man use bread crumbs with a dash! of fish oil just enough to make a doughy like consistency chuck in the water you'll get lots of mullet come in. 8 times out of 10 of your fishing in a river or estuary and your seeing fish jumping its mullet so just use a cast net a land it on top of them mate. You're in wicked country down and all around there good luck man you're a f**cking legend!
P.S if you hook onto a decent mulloway HOLD ON! 🤣🤣👌🏽
Oh and look at my comment on your video you made one month ago man “I survived 3 days eating only what I catch” , I have suggested a wicked fishing spot for you as you’re in the area!
Mate I love that Alex is cutting your hair but that shit needs to go. No hate at all my brother but it makes you look ten years older than you are 🤙🏼
Get rid of the curclr hooks j hooks always when somthing takes a live bait well any big bait flip the bail arm do there is no resistance count to five slow and flip it over and set hooks , if you did that I grantee would would of got atleast one of those fish no more circle hook
Everything your doing isn’t quite right if your using a circle hook u should just let it hooked itself and have the drag not to loose have it more tighter but not to tight and u should use an air filter for the live baits
Hay Luke this is Cousin❤️❤️❤️❤️ sister really like your videos so much🎉
another great video, If it was me I would be using Mustad Live bait hooks over circle hooks on any live bait.
Just keep putting in the hours brother I’ve put in countless fishless hours but the one good fish always makes it worth it mulloway are a very elusive fish and definitely one of the hardest to catch in wa but if you and the fam stop around Bunbury Perth or Jurien bay I’ll be keen to come down and we will get onto some snapper or a ghost around the metro area 🤙🏻❤️
I use circle hooks and rig up like you do, I just let the fish run a lot longer and you’ll know when it’s hooked trust me haha. I’ve caught plenty of big Jews, snapper and threadys using the running sinker and single hook. I usually fish of a night time or real early in the morning.
Mate, I feel you’re taking the piss…I think you posted this because you felt you had to- your previous content was recorded before Christmas and was terrible!
Oi Luke I just got home from fishing but I saw you had a video up so I went home but I have a tip slow troll lures there cos I’ve been there packs of times mate that’s what has cought me big dogs
If it was me and i was using circle hooks i would have the drag loose, let the fish take it and swim with it, after im confident its swimming away from me, id put some tension on the line so the circle hook can turn around and hook the side of the mouth. Once you feel good resistance, you're on boy!
m8 with the jew run a snell rig and rlly loose drag dont touch your rod till its screaming off and u are certain its hooked
