You gotta love New Zealand when you can shoot out for a few hours after work and fly fish a quality, crystal clear back country stream for wild brown trout.
A ‘quick flick’ on the Crooked river (West Coast, New Zealand) produces a couple of fish on dry fly and nymph.

don't name the river's you fish in the future mate. we don't want to make it easy for every other tom, dick and harry to find these great places and put the extra pressure on the fish.
Why did on earth go and name this river? You clearly don’t value going back there again!!!!
Nice vid, Matt. I've fished the next river along from that, the one where you have to ask the God-Botherers' Community/Farm permission to access it (they own the land where 4×4 road is). Nice country. Any 1080 drops there lately? I could hear some native bird song, so I assume it hasn't been poisoned – yet. I noted huge increase in dairy cow numbers around that area, so won't be all that long before run-off is polluting those rivers and lakes. So, enjoy it while we can! Shame what we're handing onto the next generation, though.
I love the wild nature of NZ, awesome scenes anyway! You 'th got a new subscriber…
nice video mate! Just curious – where did you guys access the river? Im visiting New Zealand this summer. Is it still worth a try then? Cheers from Germany and tigt lines!
