Revisiting this, you trying to find SOME negatives of a masterpiece like this made me think somewhat of Nem's review of Balrog VS TJ, where there's only a few to find. (Clipping issues for Balrog, Boomstick's bad ending pun and the technicality Balrog already broke) You had similar struggles trying to find SOME for this episode. (Mainly SpongeBob's end)
Both SpongeBob VS SF Aquaman and Balrog VS TJ are indeed 10/10 masterpieces.

This season is so loaded, and I hope they continue the amazing streak for the rest of it.
What's that? After seeing lots of Death Battle reviews with similar opinions and arguments, especially between Nemesis and Biff, I now see Nemesis and Biff have pretty different opinions on a more recent Death Battle episode?
I could have waited an eternity for this.
(Btw, there's nothing wrong with lots of youtubers, such as Nem and Biff, having similar opinions, it's just that after watching lots of reviews with similar conclusions and arguments it is refreshing to see some different takes for a change. Obviously, I'm not saying or implying that they should disagree for the sake of disagreeing and obviously they should be honest about their opinions in these reviews regardless of whether or not someone agrees or disagrees with them, it's just that hearing some diversity in opinions in a modern Death Battle episode between the big Death Battle youtubers is a happy accident in my eyes.)
I think what makes it work despite being a “spite episode” is that despite all of the depravating humour towards Aquaman, it still actually gave him a surprisingly respectful exit. There where still sentiments of a love letter towards what he stood for even if the execution is mocked.
This is the funniest death battle they’ve ever made, in my opinion.
What I love is that Spongebob's pep talk to Aquaman really did him major favors. that Reef Blower feat of 6000 Yottatons was replicated with Aquaman popping Spongebob like a Balloon, Both fighters completely no-sold it, and he managed to use the Earth's water for one final attack.
If anything, Spongebob (and Death Battle in general) gave Aquaman the same level of respect as most heroes from SF Aquaman's era, difference is they just chose to give him something instead of just ignoring him.

The fact that Tom Schalk plays not only SpongeBob but also Kool-Aid Man and fucking DIO of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure fame is astounding

I think the funniest part of the episode is the fact that Aquaman’s big ocean punch felt higher scale than anything Thor and Vegeta did in their fight.
Jokes aside, this episode is amazing and my favorite of the season so far. The analyses were fun and the fight was amazing. Wiz even said “That’s right Boomstick!”. How could anyone not give this episode a 10/10?
Also Jason vs Michael being the next episode is pretty based.
It's funny that you bring up Solid JJ, since i think my only exposure to the DC Super Friends mostly are from his videos
I’ve watched the fight way too many times, to the point where I noticed that when Aquaman does his big ocean punch, the line seperating him and Spongebob starts to crush Spongebob and he looks hurt by it
Great review man, I'm glad to see how much you liked this episode. I thoroughly enjoyed it as well and will be damn impressed to see if season 9 reaches even higher highs than this. Even if the rest of the season ends up being mid (which is doubtful) it's safe to say that this will be the best season of the show overall.
As someone who probably got IN to superhero comics because of Superfriends, I admit to feeling a certain disdain for the spite (like, come on, even if Aquaman is 1/1000th as strong as his universe's Superman, he'd still be stronger then most Aquamen), so I would like if it had been a bit less obvious, like maybe have Wiz keep going and point out some of the scaling and better feats (He once lifted an entire cruise ship, which would be over 100000 tons, and held back a tsunami. Still not really that great by comparison to the Sponge God, but a damn sight better than the garbage), while Boomstick still underestimates him.(Honestly, in general, not a big fan of any time when they straight admit the loser beforehand), but it wasn't that big a deal. Aquaman was basically the star of the fight (even if I would have prefered if he'd pulled out stuff like the Heat Ray, or, hell, if he just hadn't dried out so quickly), getting a feat actually bigger than anything his comics counterpart did in his match, or anything he ever did in the original show, getting respect from his opponent, and, in general, making it clear that it wasn't that Aquaman sucks (or, ya know, not just that), but, rather, that Spongebob is just so ridiculous that even comics Aquaman wouldn't have stood a chance. He put up a pretty good fight in the animation, even discarding the ocean thing. He landed several good hits on the Sponge, despite the speed advantage, and that bit with the pencil was both a pretty resourceful trick, and, let's be real, against most opponents, would have won him the match. Hey, he put up a better fight then Homelander.

Bro I generally cried at the ending. I'm a HUGE SpongeBob fanboy but I don't like Aquaman.
The "Lets be super friends" line while SpongeBob crying made me shed tears and when they show the "Here lies Ocean man" grave made me cry. Whenever SpongeBob cried as a kid I cried as well.
