Columbus, Ohio is quickly becoming a hot spot for quality spotted bass in the State of Ohio and the Scioto River is definitely the place to go. Look for spotted bass in deeper sections of River with log jams and clay banks. Areas with rock are more likely to support smallmouth. Spotted Bass fishing is one of the most exciting things to do. The northern spotted bass seem to differ quite a bit from their Southern counterparts. With the quality of fish being caught lately it won’t be long until someone breaks the current spotted bass State Record. Fish small creature baits like tubes and jigs. Just subbed. Used to fish the Scioto, the Darbys, and various other creeks in central Ohio all the time before I moved. There is definitely some quality fishing in and around Columbus.
