Steve (@NWoutdoorsadventures) and I hit the mountain rivers of Northern Idaho in search of cutthroat trout. This is my first official fly fishing trip so there were lots of learning lessons to be had. We were using ant-imitation in which the trout seem to be loving them. I think it is time to invest in some of my own fly fishing gear.

Diffently right about crossing the river / creeks, it can be very tricky, looks like a fun trip
Wish I had watched this before our chat.
You can ALWAYS ask for more tips on fly rod casting/fishing..my door is always open.
I'll even teach you How to to tie some fly's.
Hey SY, this channel is awesome I am a subscriber and have been for a while now. The first video of yours that I watched was one of your early black bear hunts. I also enjoy that you collaborate with other dudes on Youtube that put out great content, particularly in the PNW. Cheers bro, keep up the great work.
I live in southeast Washington. A couple weeks ago the family and I took a trip to priest lake Idaho, rented a boat and tried fishing all day. Only caught a few small bass but it's so beautiful there. Trying to go every year.
Love it, Samong! And man, as a Oregonian, I do LOVE Idaho. There's is just something so damn special about that place!
Great video, my friend! Lovely fishing! The nature is amazing, too…What kind of fish is that? Enjoyed watching a lot! Cheers from Russia, Samong , and how about visiting my channel as well? I've got something to share about wild adventures! Anyway, best wishes to you in all your plans and beginnings! Best regards, Yuriy!
Slower moving water the trout can see better so fly presentation has to be really good. Bigger fish there probably. In fast water smaller trout and they don't have much time to judge, more of a reaction bite.
Another great video Samong. Loving the pop-up facts. Would recommend something besides a ball cap when fly fishing. Remember the hat that I wore while fly fishing? I'd recommend something like that. Fly fishing when new can result in some unintentional earrings or piercings.
Awesome stuff, bud.
1 tip, don't be afraid to go to small fly, I've caught some big fish on small nymph, I don't remember the size, but it was black with small brass colored head.
That was my go-to, in deeper pools, it got down to the fish.
Heck ya welcome to our beautiful state of Idaho and amazing fisheries Samong!!
I enjoy watching your content….awesome looking spot right here. "Sever a nerve" you made me laugh and a little comedy is a good part of a youtube channel
Finally! Come to Oregon next May-June and I’ll take you on the Deschutes for the salmonfly/golden stone hatch. Also, rainbows and cutthroats typically like to hang out in the oxygenated riffles. 😁
Great job! Several reasons trout prefer the flowing water, it was likely cooler, the broken surface of the riffle provides cover, and flowing water acts as a conveyor belt for em' bringing food to them. A good rulle of thumb… foam is home. Fish the seam between different currents, usually where foam or bubbles will collect as well. But also with all the advice, remember, there are no rules! Everywhere is different, an usually a handful of tactics will work. Hope ya keep exploring fly fishing!
You can practice your fly fishing on panfish and crappies. That's how I learned without all the problems of stream fishing. Smallmouth are fantastic.
I don't think that dude knew what he was talking about 😬🤣👍🙃
Great content, beautiful scenery, Samong! Thank you for sharing your talents, as well as trying something new
Best video yet, love fly fishing, on my way to Montana to do the same thing,👍👍
Beautiful where you are, and cool using that rock for cooking…😃🤙🏽 fish on
Dude it would be awesome if we could fish together. I’m just leaning how to fly fish and I just moved to Spokane, it would be cool to learn some spots and some fishing buddies.
Great Video, Great Job Sam !!! Great to see you out fishing and i enjoyed the fun facts as well. I follow your fishing and camping, and enjoy it a lot. I don't follow your hunting, that's when I take a brake from your channel. Your friend was good at instructing, Thank for Sharing 😍🎣🌟👍
Awesome fly fishing fellas . I love that you got into your 1st fly caught trout. Steve is the man .
Great to see you fly fishing! I’m an experienced fly fisherman but a novice hunter. Your channel has helped me increase my hunting knowledge. Would love to hunt with you some time and would be honored to take you fly fishing!
Gorgeous mountains. Gotta love Idaho. Wanna get up to some high mtn streams soon when work allows it. Haven’t had much time to explore Idaho’s high mtns since relocating.
Awesome video! I just caught a huge cutty near Pocatello yesterday myself
