How to Survive the Deep Sea | Adaptations Explained

Adaptations in the Deep Sea. NordVPN Christmas Deal! Go to https://nordvpn.com/naturalworldfacts to get a 2-year plan plus 1 additional month with a huge discount.

The deep sea is a world of challenges. Pressure increases rapidly. In the mesopelagic zone, the light of the sun becomes a faint glow, and at 1,000 metres down, the midnight zone is bathed in darkness. And yet, even in this bitter uninviting world of cold shadows, a myriad of peculiar creatures have made their homes, dramatically adapting their anatomy, behaviours and physiologies in order to cope with the challenge of living here. In this film, we’ll take a look at the unique ways in which these otherworldly creatures have adapted to thrive as masters of the deep dark sea.

love your videos!! I liked that you went over the basics of adaptation but would love to have seen more specific examples of creatures !

9:08 One metre is not 2.5 feet and the difference too large to be reasonably considered a rounding error. If your source said 2.5 feet, that's 76 cm, if it said 1 m, then that's a bit over over 3 feet.

Your videos are so calming and you can hear the pasion coming through by the way you talk. And as someone who absolutely adores everything and is fascinated by the deep sea, these videos give me so much joy and inspiration. Thank you.😊

You would think that exposing these deep creatures to such bright lights of the video crews… Would cause permanent and lasting damage to their vision.

These are creatures that never see light, being bombarded with lights that would be bright even to humans. It would be far worse than us staring directly into the sun or into The flash made by welders
