just pour molten lead a couple of times the mold will be pre-heated and just throw lead used to heat mold back in the pot.

You can use zinc from the tire weighs they use would get 5 gal bucket from tire stores and melt it down usually got about 15 lbs from it then you would have the regular wheel weights then there was the iron weights. I cast sinkers with zinc and the wheel weights I use for bullets.

Won’t the threads in the nuts chafe your fishing line?

Bees wax will make all the slag come to the top of your pot of your lead so you can scrape it off.

Use a round ball bullet mold to make round sinkers . I use a .50 cal. round ball mold to make sinkers .

been doing some checking up on bismuth in australia first it is almost 7 times more expensive than lead but the thing that got me is that it expands as it cools .aint that strange .

Cooking Spray helps with sticking

Did you actually use the bismuth? I'm curious if it decays in water

does the bismoth crumble or brake eay?

Bismuth is an unstable element with a very long half- life (more than a billion times the estimated age of the universe) and thus it is extremely weakly radioactive.

Great video! A follow up video about the cost of each material will be great! It would be nice to know which 1 is the most cost effective substitute for lead. Really enjoyed it. God bless!

To preheat your mold set it on top of your pot, it'll heat up while your waiting on the pot to heat up

I get some of my weights off the side of the road (tire weights) but some are made of sink these days. And they can be melted to fishing weights too. I don’t know the weight difference though.

Call those experiment sinkers "Almond Joy". Sometimes you feel like nuts sometimes you dont!

you forgot ZINC!! you can get zinc from any pennies made from 1985 or newer.. they are 99% Zinc. which can easily be melted down with a Torch.. but dont try and melt it in your lead pot.. also zinc is about 1/4 the weight of lead by volume.

Put your mold under your hot pot and it will stay warm tip 1, tip 2 throw all your scrap back in the hot pot and let it kool to the point its just soft enough to clap it all out and itll fit back in and ready to go again quickly.

The solder is probably harder to get out because its solder….. its meant to stick to metal lol

You could buy a solid copper ground rod at your Home Depot or Lowe’s and cut it in small pieces and use for sinkers or add them to your molds for weight

I used nuts and stones for sinkers when I was a lad

Just a few months ago there was a horrible accident at a battery factory in foglesville pa. A new guy was on his first night alone on his job and fell into a large bat of molten lead . Instant death . They only salvage a portion of his body
